Chinese senior figures including Vice Premier Madame Liu Yandong visited the UK this week as part of the People-to-People (P2P) dialogue, an annual event to discuss collaborations in health, education, culture, science as well as innovation, tourism and sport.

At this year’s P2P dialogue hosted from 4-7 December, Madame Liu met with UK Foreign Secretary to discuss issues including modern slavery, women’s equality and the DPRK. She also visited Edinburgh, London and Oxford to take part in a range of events based around the theme of the ‘Spirit of Youth’, including discussions with young parliamentarians and creative industry CEOs.

As part of the event, ministers have agreed new joint China-UK initiatives including a heritage project between Hadrian’s Wall and the Great Wall of China, a UK-China internship programme and a new cooperation strategy for science, technology and innovation.
