China is a country with huge global importance and an incredibly rich history, yet much of it remains a mystery to the western world. Celebrating its shifting culture and latest innovation, the Southbank Centre will be hosting the China Changing Festival.
Featuring artists currently practising in China as well as artists based in Britain, the festival showcases the energy and diversity of contemporary China through music, film, comedy, performance and talks.
The talks allow visitors to hear the stories and experiences of some inspirational women. In, Hidden Stories, Xiaolu Guo and Liliaj Zhang read from and discuss their most recent books which each shine a light on the experiences of generations of women in modern China.
There is entertainment for all ages, too; the kids may enjoy Little Soldier Zhang Ga, told with puppetry, it is an uplifting tale of one boy’s solidarity in the face of conflict.
The festival enjoyed great success in 2016 and will be looking to top that with another display of art and culture on London’s iconic Southbank.
