Chinese Super League new season sees new signing and new rules

The last round of Chinese Super League fixtures saw a huge embarrassment for Dalian Yifang who succumbed to an 8-0 opening day defeat at the hands of Shanghai SIPG.

In the week prior to the game newly promoted Dalian Yifang announced the signing of Atletico Madrid duo, Yannick Carrasco and Nico Gaitan. The Chinese side also brought in Portuguese international and former West Ham defender Jose Fonte bringing their total expenditure on the trio to £50 million.

A picture of Carrasco’s heat map from the game was trending after the Belgian had his most touches of the ball inside the centre circle after kicking off nine times. Former Chelsea star Oscar scored a hattrick seeing Shanghai SIPG rest at the top of the Chinese Super League.

A debut to forget for new signing Yannick Carrasco.

In attempt to develop their own players for the national side the Chinese Football Association announced clubs must field the same number of Chinese players under the age of 23 as the number of players from overseas.

This comes after a 100% tax on transfer over 45m yuan (£5.15m) has cooled down the explosive market which saw transfers such as Oscar to Shanghai SIPG for a club record £60 million and Alex Teixeira to Jiangsu Suning for £45 million.
