Chinese supplies help out Scottish mums

A new initiative undertaken by the Scottish Government is helping new mums and their children.

Based on a Scandanavian idea, new Scottish parents now receive a box to help them with their newborns.

The £160 boxes contain nearly 30 different products, ranging from bibs and comforters to nappies.

The vast majority of the items come from overseas, with most supplied by Chinese companies.

Selection of the items was made via a process whereby interested manufacturers could bid to be included.

Although many Scottish companies were successful in the bidding process, many of these reportedly then decided to contract the supply of their products to Chinese companies.

China’s growing population and middle classes means that it’s no surprise that there are a growing number of firms in the country with expertise in quality equipment for newborns.

The inclusion of so many Chinese products in the Scottish boxes is an indication not just of their quality, but also of the value offered to the taxpayer.

We think that’s good news for everyone, whether they’re parents or not!
