East Meets West: Playwright Lekha Desai Morrison talks culture clash and getting along with the in-laws

Catherine caught up with playwright Lekha Desai Morrison, to talk about her new play ‘Clarissa’, coming to the London stage on 3rd and 4th June as part of the Taking Flight Festival. Here’s a taste of what the play’s about:

Jasmine is getting married and this weekend she is entertaining her prospective mother-in-law for the first time, but she fears her favourite spicy sambhar won’t impress the middle-class palette of the notorious Clarissa Cartwright. But while she is worrying over whether she is a Jamie person or a Heston person Clarissa shows up on her doorstep with a disturbing request.

Taking Flight Festival is on at London New Diorama Theatre on 3rd and 4th June 2018 and will also be touring in Cheltenham and at Buxton Fringe.
