LFW17: Ejing Zhang

Shangai-born designer, Ejing Zhang is a breath of fresh air to the jewellery scene at LFW. Doesn’t hurt that she’s also incredibly charming. A textiles graduate from the Royal College of Art, Zhang’s pieces incorporate a significant, eye-catching textile element.

Her necklaces are made of layers of threads, which are then covered in resin and moulded into pendants with sterling silver chains. In 2017, she has introduced a line of beautiful and delicate ribbon rings to her collection which are shaped into a soft, fabric-like look, as well as cylinder loop earrings.

Zhang said: “I have focused on more commercial, wearable designs this year. I’ve also incorporated more silver for the chains. Previously, we used a lot of brass but some people are allergic to the material and also, silver is a higher value item. The metal is sourced from Southern China, but the textiles and resin is made in the UK. The colour choices were inspired by Spanish buildings and architecture.

This is Zhang’s 3rd time presenting at LFW and she also showcases her jewellery at Paris Fashion Week and the well-known accessories event, Premiere Classe in Paris.
