Lama Jouni wowed the crowd with her A/W17 collection today, as models strutted their stuff down the runway. The garments were bold and powerful with a nod to the 80s and attention to sharp shoulders- as seen briefly in her AW16 line – and a touch of sports luxe. Gold was the metal of choice; models wore big hoop earrings and the clothes featured gold detailing on belt buckles and zips. We could also see discreet golden yellow in the floral motifs embroidered on the hemline of a sheer shirt, as well as low cut and halterneck floor-length dresses.
Jouni has incorporated an exotic touch with large frills seen on both crop tops and tight pencil skirts. Neither too much, nor too little, the collection is an incredibly wearable one with the stand-out piece the black leather mini dress with its fitted bodice. Attached to the dress is a train in the same embroidered material.
The designer has stayed true to her style from previous collections, which presented floaty, feminine garments in a corresponding fashion. The colours haven’t strayed far from her love of monochrome either, although she’s added some fiery red to spice things up. She’s taken significantly more risks this time around, it’s just that bit more daring, and if the warm reception is anything to go by, it’s paid off.
