What Happened
Trains heading southbound between Tooting Broadway and Morden on the Northern line are currently not running due to a fire alert at Colliers Wood station. Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that all other directions and parts of the Northern line remain operational.
Why It Matters
This disruption affects daily commuters traveling between Tooting Broadway and Morden, forcing them to seek alternative routes. Passengers can utilize bus services, including the 131 bus to Colliers Wood followed by the 470 service to Morden, which takes approximately 23 minutes. Other bus options include the 280 and 45 services or the 264 and 201 services, with total journey times ranging from 30 to 35 minutes. For those preferring to cycle, the distance can be covered in about 17 minutes, while walking the 3.6 km route would take around 50 minutes.
What’s Next
As the situation develops, TfL will provide updates on the status of the Northern line and any further disruptions. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative transport options until normal service resumes.
