Leslie Odom Jr. Returns to Hamilton
“Returning to Hamilton and revisiting the role of Aaron Burr with the growth and perspective of time has been a profoundly healing artistic experience,” said Leslie Odom Jr., who is set to reprise his acclaimed role in the West End production.
The production will run at the Victoria Palace Theatre from 3 July to 5 September 2026, marking Odom’s West End debut. He is widely recognized for his original portrayal of Aaron Burr in the Broadway version of Hamilton, for which he won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
Hamilton, which opened in London in 2017, tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, chronicling his involvement in the American Revolution and his personal life. The show has garnered significant acclaim, winning seven Olivier awards.
Current cast members include Alex Sawyer as Alexander Hamilton and Jay Perry as Aaron Burr, but Odom’s return is highly anticipated. Cameron Mackintosh expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m absolutely thrilled that London will now be able to share the experience of Leslie for a short season.”
Mackintosh further reminisced, “When Jeffrey Seller first invited me to see Hamilton during its New York try-out at the Public Theater over 10 years ago, I was knocked out by Leslie Odom, Jr.’s electric performance as Aaron Burr opposite Lin-Manuel’s unforgettably charismatic Alexander Hamilton.”
Odom acknowledged the opportunity, saying, “I am thankful to Cameron Mackintosh and Jeffrey Seller for the invitation to make my West End debut with this fabulous company.” His return to the role is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the character, enriching the audience’s experience.
Priority booking for Odom’s engagement will open at 11am on 12 March 2026, with general booking following at 11am on 13 March 2026. Casting for the company from 15 June 2026 will be announced soon.
As anticipation builds for this limited engagement, the West End community looks forward to welcoming Odom back to the stage, where his performance is expected to resonate with both new and returning audiences alike.
