The UK Open Darts 2026: A Tournament of Anticipation
“The UK Open is never deficient in drama, spectacle or anticipatory electricity,” remarked a key participant, highlighting the excitement surrounding the upcoming event.
Scheduled to take place from March 6-8, 2026, at Butlins Minehead, this will mark the 24th staging of the UK Open Darts. The tournament is renowned for its unpredictable nature and large player field, which will consist of 160 competitors.
Defending champion Luke Littler, who triumphed in 2025 with an impressive 11-2 victory over James Wade, will be looking to retain his title. The winner of the tournament will receive a substantial prize of £120,000, adding to the competitive spirit.
The tournament format features an open draw, allowing players to enter at staggered times based on their rankings. The first round will include 16 Rileys qualifiers, 8 Challenge Tour qualifiers, and 8 Development Tour qualifiers, alongside Tour Card holders ranked 97-128.
The second round will see players ranked 65-96 join the 32 first-round victors, culminating in the top 32 players competing in the later rounds. This structure ensures a dynamic and engaging competition.
Sessions will commence at 12:00 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with evening sessions starting at 7:00 PM. Fans can look forward to live broadcasts on ITV4 in the UK, while main stage action will also be available on PDCTV in the US and Australia.
As the tournament approaches, the excitement continues to build. “It is a formidable undertaking to track the cascading results across the venue’s multiple arenas,” noted an observer, emphasizing the complexity of the event.
With the open draw before each round and the switch between main stage and outer boards, the tournament promises to level the playing field, making every match unpredictable and thrilling.
As the date draws near, players and fans alike are gearing up for what is expected to be an unforgettable weekend of darts at Butlins Minehead.
