Alex Polizzi’s Journey
“I opened a hotel four years ago. It signalled the end of my marriage, I almost lost my mind and it’s quite hard work,” Alex Polizzi stated, reflecting on the profound impact that managing a hotel has had on her personal life. Polizzi, known for her role as the presenter of The Hotel Inspector, has been candid about the challenges she faced during this tumultuous period.
In 2007, Polizzi married Marcus Miller after a lengthy 12-year engagement, but their relationship took a turn, leading to their divorce in 2024. The couple has two children, Olga and Rocco, and Polizzi has openly discussed the emotional toll of her separation. “I have a 16 year old daughter and an 11 year old son and I got divorced last year and I felt so bereft, and that everything was on my shoulders, and yet their father is still alive,” she shared, highlighting the complexities of co-parenting post-divorce.
The Navigator Hotel
Polizzi’s hotel management journey is closely tied to The Navigator Hotel, located in Bognor Regis, UK. The hotel, which has 12 rooms, was purchased by Kathleen Lamb in September 2024, who subsequently undertook a significant refurbishment. “I called on Alex because I was getting a little bit out of my depth,” Lamb remarked, acknowledging the expertise Polizzi brings to the table.
The refurbishment aimed to revitalize the hotel, which had been described as feeling “very unloved” with its dark green and brown decor. Lamb noted, “Everything was dark green and brown – it felt very unloved. I’ve been working hard to put the love back into it.” This transformation was crucial, especially considering that Bognor Regis was ranked as the UK’s worst seaside town by Which? in 2025.
Impact of the Show
The episode of The Hotel Inspector featuring The Navigator Hotel aired on March 5, 2026, showcasing the changes made to the establishment. Following the refurbishment, the price of sea-view rooms increased from £110 to £135, reflecting the enhancements made to attract more guests. The show, which first aired in 2005, is currently in its 21st series, continuing to provide insights into the hospitality industry.
Polizzi’s experiences managing a hotel amid personal upheaval resonate with many viewers, offering a glimpse into the realities of balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Her journey illustrates the resilience required to navigate both the challenges of hotel management and the emotional complexities of family life.
As Polizzi continues to share her story through her work on The Hotel Inspector, the hospitality industry remains a significant part of her life, intertwined with her personal experiences. The next steps for both Polizzi and The Navigator Hotel will be closely watched by fans and industry observers alike, as they navigate the evolving landscape of hotel management and personal growth.
