BBC Earth documentary out in Chinese cinemas on Friday
Earth: One Amazing Day, the second installment of BBC's Earth nature documentary film series, is set to make its worldwide debut in cinemas across China on Friday.
Jointly produced by China and UK, the Chinese version of the documentary film sees renowned action movie star Jackie Chan as narrator, reading a script by prominent Chinese screenwriter Geling Yan, reported Xinhua News Agency.
Academy Award-winning actor and director Robert Redford has recorded the narration for the English version.
At the film's world premiere held in Beijing earlier this month, Jackie Chan expressed his excitement, saying that he was so impressed with the project that he worked non-stop for six hours recording the dialogue.
Chan also called on parents to take their children to see the documentary because children today rarely have the chance to see this beautiful planet.
Both BBC Earth Films and Shanghai SMG Pictures believe that the documentary film will be successful at the Chinese box office since China's awareness of both nature and the environment is increasing.
Earth: One Amazing Day features 38 wild species from 22 countries, including the giant panda and white-headed langur, both of which are unique to China.
