Callum Wilson Signs New Contract
Callum Wilson has agreed to a new one-year contract with West Ham United, extending his stay at the club until 2027. The announcement comes as Wilson has made a significant impact since joining West Ham, scoring five goals across all competitions this season.
Wilson, who is currently 34 years old, signed a pay-by-play deal with West Ham last summer after being released by Newcastle United. Since then, he has made 24 appearances in the Premier League, with ten of those being starts.
Despite his individual success, West Ham currently finds itself struggling in the Premier League, sitting in 18th place with 28 points from 29 games. The team is in a precarious position as they fight to avoid relegation.
Wilson’s scoring record against West Ham has been impressive, with a total of 12 goals in 16 games prior to his arrival at the club. His ability to find the net has been a welcome addition to a team in need of offensive firepower.
In a statement regarding his new contract, Wilson expressed his commitment to the club, saying, “East London is now going to be home which I’m happy about, and yeah there were obviously opportunities to go elsewhere, but I feel there’s a wrong that I need to make right with the West Ham fans especially, and I’m looking forward to getting in front of them at the London Stadium.”
Wilson’s previous tenure at Newcastle was marked by a poor scoring record, making his resurgence at West Ham all the more significant. His performance this season has provided a glimmer of hope for the struggling club.
As West Ham continues its fight for survival in the Premier League, Wilson’s contributions will be crucial in the coming matches. The club and its supporters will be looking to him to lead the charge as they aim to climb out of the relegation zone.
With the new contract in place, Wilson will have the opportunity to solidify his legacy at West Ham and potentially turn the club’s fortunes around.
