Event Overview
The Cambridge Half Marathon is being held this Sunday, drawing an expected 15,000 runners to the city. This 13.1-mile (21.1km) race will start and finish on Victoria Avenue, adjacent to the event’s village on Midsummer Common.
The first wave of competitors will set off at 09:30 GMT. Participants can expect well-organized facilities, including toilets available at each drink station along the route and within the event village. The event will also necessitate the closure of 36 roads in and around Cambridge.
Personal Stories
Among the participants is Chloe Hodgkisson, who is running to raise funds for the Stroke Association charity. Chloe suffered a stroke in May 2024 and underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from her brain. Reflecting on her journey, she stated, “I just couldn’t believe it; I had to walk again.” She added, “I’m raising money and awareness for others that are possibly going through the same thing.”
Another notable participant is Rob Foreman, who will be running the marathon in full firefighter kit to support the Magpas Air Ambulance charity. He acknowledged the challenge ahead, saying, “This challenge is definitely going to be one of the hardest I’ve done physically, so it’s going to be a case of being mentally strong and resilient.”
