Curing Barn British Bresaola Recall: Urgent Safety Alert

In a significant health alert, the Curing Barn has announced a recall of its British Bresaola due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This bacterium poses serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The recall affects 60g packs of the cured meat, which have a use-by date of June 10, 2026. Sold at Tesco for £4.50, these products are now a cause for concern as Listeria can lead to flu-like symptoms such as high temperature, muscle aches, chills, nausea, and diarrhea. In rare cases, it can result in severe complications like meningitis.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has taken swift action, advising consumers who purchased the affected Bresaola not to consume it. Instead, they should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, even without a receipt. The FSA has issued Product Recall Information Notices to ensure that consumers are kept informed about this food safety issue.

“Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that is potentially harmful if consumed,” stated a representative from the Curing Barn. This warning underscores the seriousness of the situation and the need for immediate consumer action.

As the recall was announced on April 5, 2026, the urgency for consumers to check their fridges and pantries has never been more critical. The FSA is urging everyone to stay vigilant about food safety alerts and to report any symptoms that may arise after consuming the product.

With the recall affecting specific batch codes WLRC, J1Z2, 0WD0, and J85J, it is essential for consumers to be aware of these identifiers when checking their purchases. The Curing Barn and the FSA are committed to ensuring public safety and are working together to manage the situation.

As the investigation continues, officials are expected to provide further updates on the matter. Consumers are advised to remain cautious and informed as more information becomes available.
