Dominic Chinea Relocates to Cornwall
Dominic Chinea has relocated from Kent to Cornwall with his wife Maria and their dog Wendy to host his new show, ‘Dom Chinea’s Cornish Workshop’. The first episode aired on March 9, 2026, showcasing his journey of renovating a rundown farmhouse and transforming a cow barn into a workshop.
Chinea’s new series features five episodes where he plans to utilize local tradespeople to assist with his projects. He expressed excitement about getting involved in local life, stating, “I wanted to get involved in local life and help make a difference.”
During his move, Dominic faced challenges navigating the narrow Cornish lanes, remarking, “Cornish lanes are so narrow and so tight – especially round here, I’m always forced to drive into the bush, scraping the side of my van on brambles and bushes.”
In addition to the farmhouse renovation, Dominic is also working on creating a garden pond and converting a mini into an ice cream van. He noted the stunning coastline in Cornwall, which adds to the charm of his new projects.
Dominic, who joined ‘The Repair Shop’ in 2017, has become a key member of the team, known for his skill in reviving various items. He has been storing a jack for 15 years before finally using it in one of his projects.
While filming, Dominic encountered an injury when his hand was pulled into a drill, highlighting the physical demands of his work. He commented, “There’s a lot of pressure!” as he navigates the challenges of his new show.
The Geevor tin mine, which officially closed in 1990, is part of the rich history surrounding the area, adding a historical context to his projects. As he embarks on this new chapter, observers are keen to see how his renovations will unfold and the impact they will have on the local community.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full scope of his projects and any potential collaborations with local artisans.
