Limited Operations at Dubai International Airport

Dubai International Airport is facing significant disruptions in departures following an explosion heard over the facility on March 4, 2026. Initial reports indicate injuries and damage, prompting airlines to adjust their operations significantly.

Emirates, one of the major carriers operating from Dubai, is currently running a limited flight schedule, prioritizing customers with earlier bookings. The airline plans to operate 11 daily flights to the UK across five airports, but overall capacity remains constrained.

On March 2, 2026, Emirates successfully carried about 30,000 passengers out of Dubai, but the situation has since changed dramatically. The airline is now focusing on ensuring that those with existing reservations are accommodated.

Saudia has partially resumed its flights to and from Dubai, with an initial schedule of two outbound and two return services. However, many airlines are still operating limited services due to ongoing airspace disruptions.

Passengers transiting through Dubai will only be accepted if their connecting flights are operating as planned, adding another layer of complexity for travelers. Air Arabia has suspended operations until 3 PM UAE time on March 9, 2026, further limiting options for those looking to depart.

In light of the situation, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry has urged citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place. Meanwhile, Dubai Airports has confirmed that the incident was quickly contained, but details about the extent of the damage at the airport remain unclear.

As airlines continue to navigate these disruptions, passengers booked between February 28 and March 31 can rebook their flights through April 30 or request a refund via the Emirates website.

Air travel across parts of the Middle East has faced significant disruptions following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and retaliatory strikes by Tehran, complicating the current situation further.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the timeline for airlines returning to full operations, leaving many travelers uncertain about their future plans.
