Dubai’s Financial Audit Authority Completes First Internal Audit Quality Review

On May 5, 2026
dubai — GB news

Dubai’s Financial Audit Authority (FAA) has successfully completed its first internal audit quality review for the Community Development Authority (CDA), rated ‘Generally Conforms’ to global standards. This milestone comes amid rising tensions in the region, with expectations of US and Israeli military strikes on Iran.

The FAA’s assessment of CDA highlights a commitment to enhancing governance and oversight practices across UAE entities. Faisal Kazim, director of FAA’s Consulting & Business Excellence Department, emphasized that “Delivering independent quality assurance assessments is a key part of FAA’s mandate to enhance governance and oversight across subject entities.” This review is essential as it aligns with global standards and is required at least once every five years.

In the wake of escalating regional tensions, particularly concerning Iran’s actions targeting UAE oil export facilities, the FAA’s findings offer a moment of stability. Talal Al Hashmi, CDA’s internal audit and risk management director, remarked that “This external assessment represents a valuable addition to the continuous development journey at the Community Development Authority.” Observers note that such governance measures are crucial during periods of uncertainty.

As the situation unfolds, US airforce jets have been scrambled over UAE airspace and other Gulf states to conduct combat air patrols. The oil market is responding — Brent prices have surged due to fears surrounding the potential conflict. Dubai expects US/Israeli strikes on Iran within the next 24 hours, raising concerns about further regional instability.

The external assessment not only reflects CDA’s adherence to high standards but also underscores the importance of robust risk management strategies in turbulent times. The FAA’s role in assisting government bodies becomes even more critical as geopolitical dynamics shift rapidly.
