Just for China – Infiniti’s new models

Nissan’s luxury car brand Infiniti has revealed plans for a new series of models aimed specifically at the Chinese market.

The announcement came just ahead of the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, which starts today.

Roland Krueger, Infiniti’s Chairman and Global President explained the plans:

Over the next five years INFINITI is planning to localize five new vehicles in China, tripling our sales here in our fastest growth market, globally.”

”As part of our roadmap to electrify our portfolio, we anticipate that by 2025, more than 50% of new INFINITI vehicles sold globally and in China will be electrified.”

”Together with our partner Dongfeng Motor Company Ltd., INFINITI is pursuing localization in China for China, expanding our network footprint and introducing new technologies, such as our world’s first production variable compression engine (VC-Turbo), and vehicle electrification, such as e-POWER.”

”We will continue to strive to make INFINITI the top premium challenger brand in the market.”

Infiniti is just the latest in a long line of global manufacturers recently to reveal plans to launch models just for the Chinese market.

These include VW, Skoda, Peugeot, Ford and Citroen, together with their local partners.

It’s no surprise that Infiniti has specifically chosen to design SUVs and electric vehicles for China – these are two of the fastest growing vehicle categories in the country.
