LFW17: Kitayama x Shone Puipia

Chinese handbag brand Kitayama presents its first collaboration – The Wild Bunch – at the LFW Designer Showrooms. The line has been designed with Belgian fashion designer Shone Puipia.

The partnership is a brand new international initiative by Kitayama. European Market Director, Dan Li, tells SINO all about it: “We started Kitayama in 2014 and have launched five collections so far, this is our first time at London Fashion Week. Our new project is based on collaborations with young European designers; we incorporate their style and give them a creative opportunity.

“Shone Puipia is originally from Thailand but studied in Antwerp and The Wild Bunch is a continuation of his graduate womenswear line. We’d like to take on at least two international designers a year.”

The collection depicts the story of a group of young Victorian school girls who disappear in the wild, as inspired by the 1975 film ‘Picnic of Hanging Rock’, created by Peter Weir. The bags come in multiple shapes: ribbon clutches, ruffle pouches, triangle buckle bags, buckets, shopper and tote bags. Made in calf leather and eel skin, the bags are unpretentious and fun in shades of red, yellow, white and black, as well as lilac and caramel.
