In a pivotal move for the live music scene in Central and Eastern Europe, Live Nation has announced its investment in Romanian promoter Emagic and Slovak booking agency Vivien. This strategic decision, revealed on March 24, 2026, marks a significant step towards enhancing the live entertainment infrastructure in both countries, responding to the growing demand for concerts and events.

Live Nation’s investment comes at a time when more than half of live music fans in Slovakia are traveling to other cities for concerts, highlighting a pressing need for more local events. In Romania, 47% of fans are also traveling for shows, primarily due to a lack of events or venues in their immediate areas. This investment aims to address these gaps and create a more vibrant concert culture.

For over 20 years, Emagic has been a key player in promoting shows in Romania, while Vivien has successfully brought global artists to Slovak stages. Live Nation’s involvement is expected to strengthen local expertise and expand the capacity to host international acts, ultimately enriching the cultural landscape of both nations.

According to Live Nation, “With so many travelling for concerts and more international visitors building gigs into their trips – this is a pivotal moment to invest in the region’s live entertainment infrastructure.” This sentiment underscores the potential for growth in the live music market, as evidenced by the company’s previous successes in neighboring Hungary.

Market research indicates that 56% of Slovak fans want more pop music events, while 40% of Romanian fans cite a lack of events or venues in their area. Additionally, 56% of Romanian audiences are calling for more pop music, and 45% are seeking more rock music. These statistics reveal a clear appetite for diverse musical offerings, which Live Nation aims to fulfill through its investments.

Live Nation’s CEO, Michael Rapino, has been at the helm of the company since its inception 21 years ago, guiding it to become the world’s largest promoter. He expressed pride in how the company has transformed the fragmented live music industry into a more organized and fan-friendly experience. “I’m very proud,” Rapino said, speaking of the way he believed his company had taken a fragmented industry over 20 years ago and organized it to better serve artists and fans in a manner that other companies now try to emulate.”

As Live Nation continues to expand its footprint, it remains committed to creating more opportunities for local artists and enhancing the overall concert experience for fans. The company’s recent acquisition of ForumNet Group for $100 million further illustrates its dedication to strengthening its presence in the region.

While the excitement surrounding this expansion is palpable, details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific events and artists that will be featured in the upcoming seasons. However, the anticipation among fans and industry stakeholders is undoubtedly high as they await the positive changes that Live Nation’s investment will bring to Romania and Slovakia’s live music scenes.
