London Fashion Week 17: Kim Kwang

Rock ‘n’ roll is back in footwear fashion. Kim Kwang has returned to London Fashion Week to showcase his new collection of sneakers, open-toe heels and pointed ankle boots. The theme is clear; round and star-shaped metallic studs, with plenty of colour and glitter to match. The shoes are all hand-made Italian calf leather.

Kwang said: “I was inspired by a night out with a friend in Camden Town. I hadn’t been for a while and I loved it, the atmosphere and energy was amazing.”

Beijing-born Kwang also tells us about his bold colour choices – bright pink, gold and blue. He says that while in London we may find these strong shades for day wear, it is very stylish to dress in bright colours in his homeland, as well as Korea.

The brand was launched in 2011 and is also displayed at Paris Fashion Week this year. Kwang studied womenswear at Central Saint Martins and worked at Jimmy Choo for three years prior to designing his own collection.
