Bridgerton Season 4 Highlights
1 Who will take on the role of the next Lady Whistledown?

A key aspect that shapes the world of Bridgerton is the narrative framework provided by Lady Whistledown and her Society Papers. After Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) revealed herself as the mastermind behind the writings, the papers continued at the behest of Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel). However, Penelope once again set aside her pen, much to the queen’s disappointment. Subsequently, a new writer has surfaced, their identity still a mystery. With Whistledown resuming her role, it’s time to uncover who is reigniting the gossip mill. Bridgerton season four introduces a new writer for Lady Whistledown’s gossip column.
Benedict and Sophie’s Wedding
With the adaptation of Julia Quinn’s book series, there was a clear direction for much of the storyline. However, regarding this particular plot twist, we find ourselves in uncertainty. Showrunner Jess Brownell mentioned that we might need to be patient for an official clarification. So, why the secrecy? “Back in Season 3, when we discussed her unmasking, we thought it would be exciting for her to eventually step back and allow someone else to take the lead. This creates a true enigma for the audience, enabling us to drop hints and explore it further in future seasons,” Brownell shared with Glamour. As for who holds the answer, it’s Brownell, Shonda Rhimes, and the writing team. Nevertheless, they have a “strong feeling” about the identity, leaving space for the author to make changes. “I never say never, but from Season 3 to now, as we wrap up Season 5, Shonda and I have consistently leaned towards one individual we believe it to be.” They also can’t prolong Whistledown’s reveal too long.
2 Who Will Be Attending the Next Wedding?

New Lady Whistledown Revealed
Every season of Bridgerton revolves around a romantic connection involving one of the Bridgerton siblings. We started with Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) narrative, where her relationship with Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), sparked our fascination with the show. We followed the sequence, although Seasons 3 and 4 swapped Colin (Luke Newton) and Benedict, which actually enhanced the series’ overall storyline. Season 5 might experiment with the sequence, but if the fifth book, To Sir Phillip, With Love, is next, it would finally shine a light on our cherished Eloise (Claudia Jessie). In the post-credits scene, the ladies were discussing whose wedding might be next. From a character development perspective, it’s difficult to envision our long-time marriage skeptic, Eloise, walking down the aisle. However, the narrative does indicate that in her arc, she will ultimately wed the widower Sir Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton), who was introduced in Season 1. After five seasons, are fans prepared for Eloise to finally experience the thrill of love?
What we do know for certain is that the next two oldest siblings will take center stage in Seasons 5 and 6. This leaves the possibility of Francesca (Hannah Dodd) as a contender. We’ll delve deeper into this in our upcoming burning question, but it may be a tough sell. Following the unexpected death of John Stirling (Victor Alli), Francesca remains in mourning attire. Is she truly prepared to embrace love so soon after such a loss? Perhaps Bridgerton will surprise us with a wedding featuring an unexpected partner! Ruby Stokes portrayed Francesca in Bridgerton Seasons 1 and 2.
3 What is the Position of Francesca and Michaela?
Questions for Season 5

In Book 6, When He Was Wicked, the narrative shines a light on Francesca’s journey. The plot revolves around her romantic entanglement with Michael Stirling, a notorious rake who is captivated by her at first glance but must endure a lengthy wait for her to be available to reciprocate his feelings. In this tale, Michael is revealed to be John’s cousin. However, we’ve technically encountered John’s cousin before, as she is known as Michaela (Masali Baduza). If we consider Quinn’s works as a reference, this gender-swapped character could pave the way for the first official same-sex main couple in Bridgerton. Additionally, Francesca may become the lead in Bridgerton Season 5. Naturally, there has been ongoing discussion about how society perceives an upstairs-downstairs relationship; it remains uncertain how this dynamic might influence public opinion.
That being said, we observed the two exhibit a delightful chemistry this season, leading us, as fans of the series, to consider shipping “Franchaela.” First, let’s clarify some details. In her interview with Glamour, Brownell revealed that Baduza will return for Season 5 and “will definitely delve deeper into that character.” Regarding their relationship, we’ve witnessed moments of conflict and connection, but their dance together ignited a spark reminiscent of many previous Bridgerton romances. Although Michaela may have left despite Francesca’s plea to remain, we understand that absence can intensify feelings, so there’s certainly optimism that this ship hasn’t even set sail yet. Will Violet Bridgerton and Lord Marcus Anderson continue their romantic involvement? Bridgerton season four introduces a new writer for Lady Whistledown’s gossip column, which may add an intriguing twist to their story.

Love transcends age, particularly in the world of Bridgerton. One of the most charming hidden romances we witnessed was between Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) and Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis). Violet felt youthful again, sharing tender moments with Marcus, rekindling a passion she had missed since her husband’s passing. However, after observing Francesca cope with her husband’s loss and Benedict’s intense feelings for Sophie, she decided to reassess their connection. To our disappointment, he ended their relationship when she suggested they keep things casual instead of pursuing marriage. Francesca may become the lead in Bridgerton Season 5.
In an interview with Collider, Gemmell emphasized how significant Violet and Marcus’ romance is for their audience. “Life goes on, and experiences of love, loss, anxiety, and excitement are universal, regardless of age. It’s crucial to depict that,” she remarked. However, when he declined her casual suggestion, it appeared to mark the definitive end of their relationship. Given his connection to society as Lady Agatha Danbury’s (Adjoa Andoh) brother, one might think that a secret affair could still be possible. Gemmell shared her perspective, stating, “I would argue that she prioritizes family once more. How long that will hold true is uncertain, but the intention was to be a bit more daring. Who knows, perhaps she has a hidden list of lovers we haven’t discovered yet.” Oh, Lady Bridgerton, behave! Bridgerton season four introduces a new writer for Lady Whistledown’s gossip column.

One of the most unexpectedly delightful comebacks in Season 4 was that of the ever-charming Lady Penwood, Cressida (Jessica Madsen), who is always dressed in pink. It’s clear that Eloise’s former companion wasn’t planning to remain in Wales indefinitely! After securing a match on the marriage market, Cressida returned in style, accompanied by a new beau and her consistently pink drawing room. With a noticeable shift in her demeanor, Cressida is determined to seize her opportunity to reintegrate into society. She hoped that Lady Whistledown would lend a hand by gracing her ball with her presence, but we know that Penelope stepped back a bit too early. Penelope is the writer behind Lady Whistledown in Julia Quinn’s novels.
With a fresh perspective and a commitment to mend her relationship with Penelope, Cressida plans to leverage her marriage of convenience to her benefit. Could it be that, despite Whistledown’s absence from her gathering, she might be the new writer? Brownell doesn’t dismiss this possibility in her Glamour interview. This shift could create a thrilling and dramatic power dynamic that might spiral out of control. It certainly has the potential to introduce intriguing complexities in her interactions with both Penelope and Eloise. Regardless of how Cressida’s journey unfolds, we hope to witness more of her unique interior design choices. Notably, Penelope, played by Nicola Coughlan, steps away from the column in season four.
9 Are We Done Hearing About Lady Araminta Gun and Her Daughters? Bridgerton season four introduces a new writer for Lady Whistledown’s gossip column.
In Season 4 of ‘Bridgerton,’ viewers will see Michelle Mao, Katie Leung, and Isabella Wei. This season also brings a fresh voice to Lady Whistledown’s gossip column. Image courtesy of Netflix.
In Bridgerton, we’ve encountered various antagonists, but none quite as formidable as Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung). Much like the wicked stepmother in Cinderella, she was someone you would never want to confront. This twice-married and twice-widowed woman had two daughters, Rosamund (Michelle Mao) and Posy (Isabella Wei), and she turned Sophie’s life into a nightmare after her father’s death. Lady Araminta forced Sophie into servitude and barred her from participating in society, showcasing her unparalleled manipulative nature. By the season’s conclusion, it becomes clear that she was not only blackmailing Sophie but also deceiving and exploiting both Sophie and her own daughters. Interestingly, Lady Whistledown’s identity is revealed in season one of Bridgerton.
After settling next to the Bridgertons, we witness a scenario where Araminta becomes a social outcast while Rosamund struggles to attract a wealthy husband. However, Posy presents a different narrative. With her close bond to Sophie, she remains relevant in the storyline. Not only did she attend the grand wedding, but she also had Lord Barnaby (Zheng Xi Yong) accompanying her. In the novels, Posy eventually becomes roommates with Sophie and Benedict. Brownell aimed to provide her with a joyful conclusion, thus accelerating her storyline. “It felt like after everything she’d been through, she deserved a suitor,” she shared with Glamour. Although the trio’s destinies remain unclear for Season 5, if they make a comeback, their tales will undoubtedly differ significantly. Showrunner Jess Brownell noted that they can’t prolong Whistledown’s reveal too long.
