Celebrating Mario Day
“Today is Mario Day (Mar10, get it?) and to celebrate some of our favourite ever video game legends, I’ve put together this collection of Nintendo Switch Mario game deals,” a Nintendo representative stated, highlighting the excitement surrounding this year’s festivities.
Mario Day, also known as Mar10 Day, is a yearly celebration dedicated to Nintendo’s iconic character, Mario. The date, March 10, resembles the word ‘Mario’ when written as MAR10, making it a fitting occasion for fans to come together and celebrate.
This year’s celebration is particularly significant as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Mario game series, which has had a profound impact on the gaming landscape since its inception in the 1980s. Mario games have helped define genres such as platformers, racing games, and party games.
Nintendo is marking the occasion with substantial discounts on several Mario-themed games, with some deals reaching up to 90% off. Popular titles on sale include Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Super Mario Maker 2. The main Nintendo eShop sale will remain active until March 16.
In addition to online discounts, Nintendo has organized special in-store events for Mario Day. Fans can participate in meet-and-photo sessions with Mario at specific times, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
However, capacity for these in-store events is limited. “Capacity is limited. Entry is first-come, first-served,” the company noted, emphasizing the need for fans to arrive early to secure their spot.
The celebration not only includes game promotions and merchandise releases but also aims to honor the influence of the Mario franchise in the gaming world. With a rich history spanning four decades, Mario remains a beloved character for gamers of all ages.
As the festivities unfold, fans are encouraged to take advantage of the various deals and participate in the events, making this Mario Day a memorable occasion for all.
