NYFW: Politics takes the catwalk
The fashion world has stayed surprisingly quiet on President Trump’s controversial decisions, which include building a wall between the US and Mexico, as well as banning immigration from seven muslim-majority countries. That is, until now.
Politics has been raging at New York Fashion Week last week as designers decided to take a stand in the best way they know how.
The most eye-popping piece was made by LRS Studio, which featured a pair of skimpy white knickers with the phrase ‘F**K YOUR WALL’ and ‘No ban, No wall!’ emblazoned on the back. The brand was created by Mexican-born designer Raul Solis.

Designer Raf Simons made a loud statement as well, by blasting David Bowie’s ‘This is Not America’ during his debut show for Calvin Klein.
At Tommy Hilfiger, models including Gigi and Bella Hadid wore bandanas on their wrists, to signify unity. This is not the first time the super model sisters have shown their political side, they also took part in a march opposing the ban in New York, earlier this year. White bandanas were also given to guests, as part of the #TiedTogether initiative by Business of Fashion.
