On a quiet April morning in Beverly Hills, the world lost a shining star. Patrick Muldoon—beloved actor known for his iconic roles—died of a heart attack at just 57 years old. He was found unconscious by his girlfriend in their home, leaving behind a legacy that spanned decades.
Muldoon’s career took off when he originated the role of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995 and again from 2011 to 2012. Fans adored his charm and depth, making him a household name. But that was just one facet of his talent.
He also played the villain Richard Hart on Melrose Place, captivating audiences with his magnetic screen presence from 1995 to 1996. And who could forget his role as Zander Barcalow in the cult classic film Starship Troopers? Released in 1997, it solidified his place in pop culture.
Yet, beyond the roles he played, those who knew him spoke of his warmth. “This is such heartbreaking news,” said Alison Sweeney, a fellow actor. “Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit.” Friends described him as someone who loved animals and people alike; he gave unforgettable hugs and had a unique ability to make others feel safe.
Muldoon’s journey began at USC, where he not only graduated but also played on the Trojans football team. He started acting with a role in the sitcom Who’s the Boss?, setting the stage for a vibrant career that would touch many lives.
His latest project, Dirty Hands, is slated for release later this year; it’s bittersweet knowing he won’t be around to see it come to fruition. He was also an executive producer on the upcoming film Kockroach, which had generated excitement among fans and colleagues alike.
Still, it’s hard to fathom that someone so full of life is gone. He embraced each day with a full-tilt, rock ’n’ roll spirit—living life on his own terms.
Patrick is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, and family who will undoubtedly carry forward his memory. As tributes pour in from friends and fans alike, one thing is clear: Patrick Muldoon left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Details remain unconfirmed about any further developments related to his passing or how it may impact projects he was involved with.
