Matt King, best known for playing Super Hans in Peep Show, recently revealed he suffered a rare spinal stroke that left him temporarily paralysed. The incident occurred on a Sunday, and he was immediately hospitalised at The Royal Sussex County Hospital.
At 58 years old, King shared the news with fans who have followed his career since Peep Show first aired in 2003. He described the ordeal: “It’s true. I had a rare stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday. I was initially paralysed but was rushed to The Royal Sussex and the staff have been amazing.” His gratitude towards the hospital staff reflects the severity of his condition and the care he received.
Spinal strokes are quite uncommon, accounting for only 1.25 percent of all strokes. For King, this meant facing not just physical challenges but emotional ones as well. He recounted how he felt in those early days: “Can walk again, a bit. My legs were jelly, man. It didn’t feel f***ing brilliant.” Yet, despite these struggles, he has begun to regain mobility.
Key aspects of Matt King’s recovery:
- He has regained some ability to walk after being initially paralysed.
- King expressed gratitude to fans for their support during this challenging time.
- The incident has not deterred him from his DJ career and comedic pursuits.
King’s character Super Hans became a cult favourite during the show’s 12-year run until 2015. Fans have eagerly anticipated any news regarding a potential Peep Show reunion—especially after King participated in a festive edition of Bake Off in December 2025.
No timeline exists for when he might return to full strength or if there are any long-term effects from the stroke. However, his resilience is evident as he navigates this new chapter of his life with support from loved ones and fans alike.
