New Leadership at Tranmere

“I’m delighted to be here. The opportunity to manage a massive club was too good to turn down,” said Pete Wild following his appointment as the new manager of Tranmere Rovers.

Wild’s arrival comes after a tumultuous period for Tranmere, who currently sit 19th in League Two, just seven points clear of the relegation zone. He replaces Andy Crosby, who was dismissed after the team suffered a dismal run of 10 defeats in 11 games.

Wild’s first match in charge will be against Fleetwood Town, a club he previously managed until January 2026. His experience includes over 300 matches managed, with a notable tenure at Halifax Town where he led the team to two play-off appearances in the National League.

Mark Palios, Tranmere’s chairman, expressed confidence in Wild’s capabilities, stating, “Pete was the standout candidate – he has managed more than 300 matches and has shown the ability to improve the teams he has worked with.” This sentiment reflects the club’s hope for a turnaround in fortunes.

In his initial remarks, Wild acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying, “We’re in a tough predicament at the moment but I believe we can make progress and push forwards with the squad we have at the club.” His commitment to stabilizing the team is crucial as they look to regain confidence and secure better results.

Wild will be assisted by Adam Temple, while Andy Parkinson will resume his role as first-team coach, forming a new management team aimed at revitalizing the squad.

Prior to his stint at Fleetwood, Wild managed Barrow starting in 2022, showcasing his ability to adapt and lead teams through difficult phases. His journey began with Oldham Athletic in 2018, where he started his managerial career.

As Tranmere prepares for their upcoming match, the focus will be on how quickly Wild can implement his strategies and inspire a beleaguered squad to improve their league standing.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any immediate transfer plans or changes to the current roster as Wild settles into his new role.
