Excitement Builds for Radio 1 Big Weekend 2026

“Radio 1 have gone on record to say there will be ‘massive names’ involved,” a spokesperson for the event stated, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the upcoming festival.

The Radio 1 Big Weekend 2026 is scheduled to take place from May 22 to May 24 at Herrington Country Park in Sunderland, marking a significant return to the location, which last hosted the event in 2005. This year, the festival is expected to attract over 100,000 music fans, eager to enjoy performances from a stellar line-up.

Headlining the Friday night will be renowned DJ Fatboy Slim, known for his energetic performances and iconic tracks. Other artists set to perform include Sonny Fodera, FISHER, MK, Ewan McVicar, and Clementine Douglas, promising a diverse range of musical styles throughout the weekend.

Tickets for the festival are being released in phases, with Friday tickets going on sale at 9am on March 6, 2026. The demand for tickets is expected to be high, and fans are advised to log in early and ensure their payment details are saved in advance. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday will be available starting at 5pm on March 11, 2026.

Pricing for tickets varies, with general admission for Friday priced at £34.50 and VIP admission at £86.00. Saturday and Sunday tickets are similarly priced, with general admission at £44.50 and VIP at £106.00. A total of 31,000 tickets are available for the festival, with a limit of two tickets per person per day.

The festival will have specific age restrictions, with Friday night being strictly 18+ only, while Saturday and Sunday will be open to all ages, allowing families to enjoy the music together.

As the excitement builds, fans are reminded that tickets are geographically weighted: 30% are reserved for Sunderland residents, 60% for the wider North East, and 10% for the rest of the UK. This approach aims to ensure that local fans have the opportunity to attend the event.

With the festival just months away, the community and music lovers alike are gearing up for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of music and celebration.
