Row K is currently navigating a turbulent period as it grapples with significant financial losses and potential leadership changes. The company, which has been backed by Media Capital Technologies (MCT), recently reported a staggering loss of around $10 million following the January release of its film ‘Dead Man’s Wire’. This financial setback has prompted Row K to reassess its business model and future direction.
In a surprising turn of events, Megan Colligan, along with two other senior executives, is reportedly in talks to leave Row K. This potential exodus comes at a time when the company is already facing challenges, including the decision to put the film ‘Poetic License’ back on the market after it was championed by Colligan.
As Row K looks ahead, it has acquired four films at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), with upcoming releases including ‘Cliffhanger’ on August 28, 2025, and ‘Charlie Harper’ on September 25, 2025. However, the future of these projects hangs in the balance as the company seeks to stabilize its operations.
Meanwhile, in a different context, a rowing duo, Sean Phelps and Jonny Towers, has made headlines for their remarkable achievement of rowing 3,200 miles from Lanzarote to Antigua. They arrived a day ahead of schedule, greeted by cheering crowds, and have raised £15,928.84 towards their £50,000 target for charity, supporting organizations like Care After Combat and Samaritans.
Reflecting on their journey, Sean Phelps expressed pride in their accomplishment, stating, “I think it’s an amazing thing to do and I’ve watched a few events and I want to just make my family proud of that, proud of their dad and husband.” Jonny Towers echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of supporting mental health initiatives, saying, “To support the two great charities we’re doing it for – Care After Combat and Samaritans – we’ve both lost friends through mental health problems and suicide.”
In a separate incident, emergency services were called to a fire at Inferno, a sun bed business on the Antrim Road, at around 7pm. Cathy Toal, a local resident, recounted her experience: “I got a call at about 7pm about the fire. When I got here, the place was cordoned off and the fire service were here already.” Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
As Row K continues to face its challenges, industry observers are keenly watching how these developments will unfold and what impact they will have on the company’s future.
