Star Wars TV show details revealed by Jon Favreau

Posting photos to his Instagram and Facebook pages, Favreau, who is set to write and produce the Star Wars show, has given a brief synopsis and revealed the series will be called The Mandalorian.

It is due to air on Disney’s streaming service, scheduled to launch next year.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe,” Favreau wrote.

“The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

“We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Mandalorians are a group of warriors, for those who need to brush up on their Star Wars knowledge.

And this seems to be all the information for now, with no details on casting, or new characters.

Disney’s streaming service is designed to rival Netflix and will be the exclusive home for Marvel and Pixar films.

Favreau, 51, has previous experience of working on the Star Wars franchise, having had roles in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series and in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

He has starred in films including Swingers, The Break-Up and Couples Retreat, and directed Iron Man and the live-action remakes of The Jungle Book and The Lion King, which is also scheduled for release next year.
