As the Easter bank holiday weekend approaches, the UK is bracing for the impact of Storm Dave, which is expected to hit hard starting Saturday. Just before the storm’s arrival, the Met Office issued multiple weather warnings, alerting residents to prepare for severe conditions.
On April 4, 2026, at 5 PM, a yellow wind warning will come into effect for parts of North East England, North West England, South West Scotland, Lothian Borders, Strathclyde, Wales, and Yorkshire & Humber. Winds of 50 to 60 mph are anticipated across these areas, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph in exposed locations.
Tom Crabtree from the Met Office noted, “Storm Dave will form and rapidly deepen on Saturday as it approaches the UK from the west.” This rapid intensification raises concerns about the potential for dangerous conditions, including flying debris and injuries.

As temperatures drop to around 0°C in northern Scotland on Saturday morning, snow accumulations could reach 10 to 20 cm, with higher elevations seeing even more. The Met Office warns that blizzard conditions with drifting and blowing snow will create hazardous travel conditions across the hills and mountains of the north-west of Scotland.
Travel disruptions are anticipated across roads, rail, air, and ferry services, as Storm Dave’s impact is felt throughout the UK. Large waves along the coastline could also pose a danger, adding to the already precarious situation.
Crabtree advised, “People should prepare their property for the strong winds and keep updated with the latest weather forecast as the weather warnings are likely to be updated.” As the storm progresses, residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
