Swimmers strip for China Naked Pig Run
It’s 16 degrees. Take your clothes up and let’s go for a swim. That’s what winter swimmers in China did today, at the annual China Naked Pig Run in Xian, the capital of China’s Northwest Shaanxi province. Over 100 competitors took part, stripping to their bare essentials to run 1,600 metres and warm themselves up before jumping in the water for a cold swim. Participants are former and current athletes, as well as families and children. Everyone is welcome.
“The naked pig run aims to advocate winter swimming and a fitness campaign in Xian,” says Huang Ji’an, head of the winter swimming branch for the Xian swimming association, in a video by South Morning China Post.
