Tom Aspinall Signs with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency
Tom Aspinall has signed a commercial and advisory deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, becoming the first athlete to join the agency. This move comes as Aspinall continues his recovery from eye problems that have plagued him since his title fight with Ciryl Gane.
Aspinall, who is 32 years old, has achieved a total of 8 wins in the UFC, with 7 of those victories coming in the first round. His last fight against Gane ended in a no-contest due to eye pokes, which led to Aspinall undergoing double eye surgery in February.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the partnership, Aspinall stated, “Eddie has built one of the biggest brands in sport and understands how to take athletes to the next level, both inside and outside of competition.” Hearn, who is 46 years old, welcomed Aspinall to the team, saying, “Welcome to the team UFC heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall. Time to get what’s yours. I look at you, you’re one of the biggest stars in global fight sports. Time to build that profile.”
Despite signing with Hearn, Aspinall remains under contract with the UFC. Dana White, the UFC president, has indicated that he has no issues negotiating with Hearn, despite their previous public feuds.
As Aspinall continues to recover from his eye surgery, he has not yet set a return date to the octagon. Details remain unconfirmed regarding when he will be able to compete again. Observers are keen to see how this new partnership with Hearn will influence Aspinall’s career trajectory and public profile in the fight sports arena.
