Trey Hendrickson Signs Contract with Baltimore Ravens
Trey Hendrickson has agreed to a four-year, $112 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens. This development comes shortly after the Ravens backed out of a trade for Maxx Crosby due to a failed physical.
Hendrickson, a four-time Pro Bowler, led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in the 2024 season. However, he faced challenges last season, playing in only seven games due to injuries and recording four sacks. Over his nine-season career with New Orleans and Cincinnati, he has accumulated a total of 81 sacks and reached double-digit sacks four times.
The Ravens had initially planned to send two first-round draft picks to the Raiders for Crosby, but the failed trade prompted them to seek other options to bolster their pass rush. The Ravens’ pass rush struggled last season, producing just 30 sacks, which is tied for the second fewest in franchise history.
To facilitate Hendrickson’s signing, the Ravens restructured Lamar Jackson’s deal, creating the necessary cap space. Hendrickson’s contract includes $60 million fully guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus, along with the potential to earn an additional $500,000 per season for meeting specific sack thresholds.
Hendrickson’s request for a trade from Cincinnati last March, along with his absence from organized team activities and a mandatory mini camp, highlighted his desire for a change. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact circumstances surrounding the failed physical for Maxx Crosby, as well as the long-term implications of Hendrickson’s injury history.
The Ravens have lost several players to free agency following the failed trade for Crosby, making Hendrickson’s arrival a crucial move for the team’s defensive strategy moving forward.
