UK Weather Forecast: 19C Heat Expected
The market is talking about the anticipated warm spell as parts of the UK are expected to see temperatures soar to 19C (66.2F) this week. This temperature could make the UK warmer than popular holiday destinations like Malta and Barcelona.
Forecasters indicate that mild conditions will blanket much of the country on Wednesday, with plenty of sunshine in many areas. However, cooler weather is expected to move in from Thursday, leading to a change in the current warm trend.
Dr. Christopher England, a meteorologist with Sky News, noted, “Abundant sunshine over the southeast of England has made it particularly warm there, with 16.6C (61.88F) recorded yesterday at both Frittenden in Kent and High Beach in Essex.” He further stated that temperatures could rise even higher, reaching between 17 to 19C in parts of England’s southeastern quarter.
Despite the temporary warmth, the Met Office has cautioned that these higher temperatures do not indicate a permanent shift towards settled spring weather. Overnight frost and fog remain possible, and the overall outlook is described as “changeable.” The warm conditions are attributed to a southerly flow influenced by low pressure to the west and high pressure to the east.
Britons are encouraged to make the most of what is being touted as the ‘hottest day of the year’ before temperatures drop again due to incoming rain. Aidan McGivern from the Met Office remarked, “It might still be meteorological winter, but there is a whiff of spring in the air because we have a warm front crossing the UK.” He added that while eastern and southeastern regions might enjoy almost summer-like warmth, rain is expected to follow in the west.
No official confirmation yet on sustained warm weather, as conditions are expected to shift soon.
