VW brand is SOLely for China
Don’t worry – the word ‘SOLely’ isn’t a typo in the headline (although it is admittedly a terrible pun…) – it refers to German car maker Volkswagen and China’s JAC’s new brand, SOL.
At last week’s Beijing Auto Show, SOL was unveiled as a brand that will focus on two of China’s hottest vehicle categories – SUVs and electric vehicles (EVs).
Their debut model, the E20X pictured above, is expected to be available later this year.
A number of other vehicle manufacturers also hit the headlines at the show.
German auto giant BMW revealed that it’s set to export its latest vehicle – the all electric iX3 SUV – from China to the rest of the world.
BMW’s partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings revealed that iX3 production will commence in 2020 in Shenyang.
Notably, the car will be built solely in China – unlike some current BMW models which are manufactured in both China and Europe.
Nissan’s luxury car brand Infiniti also revealed plans for a new series of models aimed specifically at China.
