Woking FC Postpones Match Due to Pitch Conditions

The market is talking about the recent postponement of Woking FC’s scheduled fixture against Solihull Moors, which was set to take place tonight. This decision follows a pitch inspection carried out by the match official, revealing that the playing surface was not suitable for the match.

Woking FC expressed disappointment in their official statement, offering sincere apologies to supporters and those who traveled from Solihull. The club acknowledged the inconvenience and frustration caused by such late postponements, particularly for away fans who had already arrived at the venue.

Managing Director Robin Byrne addressed the situation, emphasizing that both teams were prepared to play. However, safety concerns led the referee to make the final decision to postpone the match. Byrne acknowledged the anger and disappointment felt by fans, particularly in light of two consecutive late postponements.

According to Byrne, approximately 95% of the pitch is in good condition, but a severely damaged goalmouth area has hindered play. This issue arose following the previous match against Macclesfield, which was played in torrential conditions on a saturated field.

Woking FC reassured supporters that the situation is not due to negligence, as significant resources have been invested in improving the pitch, including the appointment of a new full-time groundskeeper and servicing the drainage system.

No official confirmation yet on the rescheduled fixture, but details will be communicated in due course. Supporters who purchased tickets are advised to retain them, as further information regarding ticket validity and refunds will be provided soon.

Woking FC extends gratitude to their loyal supporters for their patience and understanding during this challenging time.
