Guro Reiten has officially joined Gotham FC on loan from Chelsea FC
In a significant development in women’s football, Guro Reiten has left Chelsea FC after a successful six-year spell, during which she won 13 trophies. The Norwegian international will join Gotham FC on loan until her Chelsea contract expires in July.
Reiten, who is now 31 years old, joined Chelsea in 2019 from LSK Kvinner and quickly established herself as a key player. Over her time at Chelsea, she won the Women’s Super League title in each of her six seasons, scoring 59 goals in 207 appearances.
After her loan period, Reiten is set to sign a deal with Gotham FC that will keep her at the club until 2029. This move marks a new chapter in her career as she continues to be a mainstay for the Norwegian women’s national team, where she has scored 21 goals in 108 games.
Reiten expressed her sentiments about leaving Chelsea, stating, “Everything has an end and this is my end here at Chelsea.” Her contributions to the club have been significant, and the team acknowledged her impact, saying, “Everyone at Chelsea would like to sincerely thank Guro for her huge contributions to our success over the last six and a half years.”
Yael Averbuch West, a representative from Gotham FC, praised Reiten, calling her “a player of exceptional quality who has consistently performed at the highest levels of the game.” This endorsement highlights the expectations surrounding her performance in the upcoming season.
Prior to her time at Chelsea, Reiten had a successful career with LSK Kvinner, where she won multiple league titles and was named the Toppserien Player of the Year in 2018. Her consistent performance has earned her recognition, including two selections to England’s PFA Team of the Year.
As Reiten transitions to Gotham FC, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how she adapts to her new environment and continues to contribute to her team’s success.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional terms of her loan agreement or future plans beyond the initial contract with Gotham FC.
