Istanbul’s Marmaray service is now running late-night operations every day of the week, a move aimed at improving passenger mobility across the bustling city. Starting Sunday, the new schedule includes departures at 11:20 p.m. from Gebze and 11:28 p.m. from Halkalı.
This change comes amid rising demand for public transportation options during late hours, with officials noting that the adjustment was expected to address increasing passenger needs. The Marmaray has become a vital link in Istanbul’s transport network, connecting various districts and easing congestion during peak hours.
Historically, Istanbul’s public transportation has faced challenges, particularly during major events like the UEFA Champions League matches that draw large crowds. The recent expansion reflects a commitment to adapt to these demands and improve overall mobility.
In tandem with this announcement, maritime traffic in the Istanbul Strait resumed after being temporarily suspended due to a mechanical failure on a dry cargo vessel. The ship, named Zaltron, experienced an engine malfunction but was safely anchored under the coordination of local authorities.
John Stones, a key player for Manchester City and known for his contributions in high-stakes matches like the UEFA Champions League final, shared insights about his football journey. “I remember my dad saying there was training with a local team on a Wednesday night so I started to go there… I just loved to play football from there on,” he reflected.
Stones has had his share of challenges too; he admitted that last season was tough enough to make him consider stepping back from the sport. Yet, his resilience shines through—he completed the most dribbles in a UEFA Champions League final since Lionel Messi in 2015.
The city’s transport enhancements signify an effort not just to accommodate football fans but also to support everyday commuters who rely on these services. With the new late-night Marmaray schedule in place, both residents and visitors can navigate Istanbul more efficiently at all hours.
As this initiative unfolds, observers will be keen to see how it impacts daily commuting patterns and whether it alleviates some of the congestion seen during major events. For now, passengers can look forward to increased accessibility across this vibrant metropolis.
