ITV Thriller ‘Gone’ Features David Morrissey in Gripping Role

ITV’s new thriller Gone stars David Morrissey as the headmaster of a prestigious private school who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his wife. The series, filmed in and around Bristol, offers a chilling narrative that captivates viewers.

The storyline of Gone is based on the real-life murder of Melanie Road, a 17-year-old who was sexually assaulted and killed in June 1984. This historical context adds depth to the plot, as it intertwines fiction with a haunting reality.

Filming took place at various locations, including the Downside School in Stratton-the-Fosse, a real public school in Bath, and the village of Saltford. Additionally, sets for the police station and various interiors of the Polly house were constructed at The Bottle Yard Studios.

David Morrissey, reflecting on his character, stated, “He’s a product, certainly, of his institution,” highlighting the complexities of the role. Co-star Eve Myles added, “It’s a fascinating story, it’s an extraordinary case to follow,” emphasizing the gripping nature of the narrative.

In addition to Gone, ITV is gearing up for the upcoming Cheltenham Festival, which will take place from March 10-13, 2026. Viewers in the UK can watch the first five races of the festival on ITV1, while the final two races each day will be available on Racing TV.

Ticket prices for the Cheltenham Festival vary, with a daily Club Enclosure ticket costing £103.50, Tattersalls tickets priced at £73.80, and day tickets for the Best Mate enclosure available for £54.

ITV’s coverage of the Cheltenham Festival has sparked some controversy, particularly with the inclusion of influencers, which has divided fans. Chris Hughes, who had been part of ITV’s coverage for six years, was dropped amid cost-cutting measures, stating, “I never once asked for more money, I was simply told they were cost cutting across sport.”

As ITV continues to expand its programming with thrilling narratives and event coverage, the audience eagerly anticipates how these developments will unfold. Details remain unconfirmed regarding future projects and potential changes in programming strategy.
