John Bishop Discusses Family Challenges on Podcast
Comedian John Bishop recently shared his family’s struggles regarding his son Joe’s hearing loss during an episode of the podcast Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe. Bishop revealed that Joe lost most of his hearing at the age of 15, a situation that fluctuated over time, complicating their family dynamics.
Bishop described the difficulties they faced, stating, “You think your teenagers aren’t listening to you anyway and he wasn’t, because he couldn’t hear me.” He noted that Joe often spoke loudly, which made it seem like he was shouting. This period was particularly challenging for the family, as Bishop reflected on his parenting approach, admitting, “If I could do any period of my life again, it would be that period, where I think I could be a better dad.”
In addition to Joe’s hearing loss, he was later diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition, further complicating the family’s situation. Bishop’s openness about these experiences highlights the importance of understanding and supporting children with health challenges.
