Valentina Gomez Blocked from Entering the UK

On April 20, 2026

Valentina Gomez, a controversial figure known for her anti-Islam rhetoric, was barred from entering the UK on May 16, 2026. This decision came just before she was set to speak at a rally organized by Tommy Robinson, an event that had previously drawn over 100,000 attendees in September 2025.

The home secretary intervened to withdraw Gomez’s electronic travel authorization (ETA), stating that her presence would not be conducive to the public good. It’s a stark reminder of how political maneuvering can shape public discourse — and safety — in volatile times.

Gomez, just 26 years old, gained notoriety during her failed run as a Republican candidate for Missouri secretary of state. Her anti-Islam stunts included burning a copy of the Qur’an and making inflammatory statements like, “Your daughters will be raped and your sons beheaded, unless we stop Islam once and for all.” Such declarations have made her a polarizing figure.

In response to her barring, Gomez claimed that her ETA had been approved prior to this sudden intervention. She defiantly declared on social media: “I’m coming to England on a boat. They can try to ban me, but they cannot ban the TRUTH. See you May 16th.” Her words resonate with those who feel silenced in today’s political climate.

The Muslim Council of Britain expressed concern about Gomez’s potential entry into the UK. They argued that blocking her entry highlights double standards in how freedom of speech is applied. “The decision highlights a clear double standard in how freedom of speech is applied and can potentially lead to less safety and security on the streets of Britain,” they stated. This raises questions about who gets to speak freely and who doesn’t.

Notably, this isn’t the first time figures deemed potentially inflammatory have faced visa issues. The Home Office has a history of blocking such individuals — often citing public safety concerns. In another instance, Sharon Osbourne faced backlash for supporting the Unite the Kingdom rally and subsequently lost ties with Centrepoint due to her endorsement. Political activity like this runs counter to our values and our long history of supporting young people regardless of their background, religion or ethnicity,” said Centrepoint in their statement.

As observers look ahead, many are left wondering what this means for future political events in the UK. Will more voices be silenced under similar pretenses? Or will this incident spark further debate about freedom of expression? Details remain unconfirmed.
